ABOUT US

ArtRwanda - Ubuhanzi is a nationwide talent search programme implemented by Imbuto Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Sports and Culture. The programme aims at identifying and supporting young and talented Rwandans within the creative arts industry. It will consist of a televised nationwide search for creative youth in six different categories (plastic art, dance & music, fashion, theatre & drama, film & cinematography, literature).
Each week, the selected performers will receive challenges, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent, and the least successful will be eliminated. Throughout the programme, competitors will be mentored by industry experts and receive advice on how to transform their talent into sustainable employment opportunities, in an effort to support their artistic development and future career aspirations.

ROAD TRIP

During the road trip selection, youth are invited to audition at each of the selection sites and display their talents to a panel of judges, who will eliminate contestants based on the quality of the talent displayed. Following this phase, only 120 contestants will move to the next phase.

PRE-SELECTION

Contestants selected during Road trips will participate in a threeday challenge tailored to their respective category, in order to judge their authenticity. After deliberation, 60 contestants representing each category will continue to the next phase of the competition.

BOOT CAMP TRAINING #1

Here, the contestants will be coached/mentored about developing pitching, presentation, entrepreneurship, business skills, among others. 30 contestants will be selected to move onto the next phase.

BOOT CAMP TRAINING #2

The 30 remaining contestants will be placed into 6 groups per artistic categories. The groups will then be given a challenge to develop a project that is artistic, generates income, sustainability and employment for youth in a specific creative arts industry. During this phase, the contestants will also be supported with finalising their projects that will be presented at the Youth Forum Series.

YOUTH FORUM SERIES

A Youth Forum Series will be organised around the creative arts industry in Rwanda. The forum will bring together youth and policy makers to discuss how to further strengthen the creative arts industry in Rwanda. During the forum, two groups will be eliminated, leaving only three groups moving on to the Grand Finale.

INCUBATION

A creative arts incubation centre will be established catering for the 6 categories in the ArtRwanda project; Plastic Arts, Music & Dance, Fashion, Acting & Drama, Cinematography & Photography, and Literature. This centre will provide essential materials and equipment to continue supporting the top artists in the creative art industry and part of the ArtRwanda-Ubuhanzi project.
